Miami International Airport to PortMiami
This is the shortest cruise transfer in Florida and the one groups most often get wrong. Eight miles sounds trivial, and on a Tuesday afternoon it is. On a Saturday morning, when several ships turn around at once and the whole of PortMiami is being accessed through a limited set of approaches, the same eight miles behaves very differently.
The other complication is the terminals. PortMiami is spread across a long island with terminals assigned by cruise line rather than chosen by you, and the difference between the correct terminal and the wrong one is a walk nobody wants to make with a week of luggage. We stage for your assigned terminal, which requires knowing the ship rather than just the port.
For a group flying in on sailing day, the coach is doing something a rideshare cannot: holding for the whole party. Thirty people do not clear baggage claim together, and a vehicle that waits is worth considerably more than one that leaves when the first four passengers are ready.

When to leave
For a Saturday sailing we plan to be at the terminal well inside your boarding window, working backward from it rather than forward from the airport. Weekday sailings are considerably easier and the timing relaxes accordingly.
