Punta Gorda Airport has grown into a significant low-cost destination, which means groups land here in numbers Charlotte County would not otherwise produce, and they land wanting to get somewhere else. Boca Grande, Englewood, the islands, and the resorts south toward Fort Myers are all reachable, and none of them are convenient in a rental car with luggage.

The Rays draw fan groups and 55+ communities from across the county and up from Lee, and the ballpark sits far enough from town that group transport is the sensible option rather than a nicety. Whatever the trip, geography here is simple and slow: US-41 and I-75 do most of the work, Boca Grande is a causeway with a toll, and the islands take longer than the map claims.

Yes, along with Englewood, Rotonda, Placida, Babcock Ranch, and Charlotte Harbor. Multiple pickups across the county on one run are normal here given how spread out it is.

Which cruise port is closest?
