Miami to Key West
The Overseas Highway is a genuinely remarkable piece of road and a very long day if you are the one driving it. Forty-two bridges, the long open crossing at Seven Mile, and water on both sides the whole way down. Four hours each way from Miami, and no realistic way to shorten it, because US-1 through the Keys is a single road with one lane in each direction for much of its length.
That last detail is the reason group trips down here reward planning. There is no alternative route. An accident or a bridge issue anywhere along the chain affects everyone equally, and the only real defence is leaving early enough that a delay is an inconvenience rather than a ruined day. We plan Keys trips with that margin built in rather than added later.
Most of what we run here falls into three categories: day trips where the drive is genuinely half the experience, wedding and event groups heading down for a weekend, and multi-day charters where the coach stays with the group. All three work far better on a full-size coach with a restroom, because four hours on a road with limited stopping options is exactly the situation that feature exists for.
